Nigerian fashion brand Hertunba has announced the launch of its latest collection, Joy. Described as a “love letter to Nigerian women who show up, dress up, and create light in the midst of scarcity,” the collection is a magnificent continuation of the brand’s reputation for infusing local materials such as Akwete and Aso Oke into modern styles. Each bright colour, well-detailed design, and even the models used to showcase the new collection all embody joy—demonstrating to fashion enthusiasts and potential buyers that they wouldn’t just be purchasing a piece from the collection, but also adding another layer of joy to their lives and the places they wear these outfits to.
Some of the designs featured in this collection include the Aku Kaftan, Tere Off-Shoulder Maxi Dress, Oma Reversible Dress, Lara Halter Maxi Dress, Jade Set, Chi Layered Mini Dress, Green Omo Dress, Aduke Knit Dress, and many more.
While speaking about the collection in one of its announcement videos, Florentina Agu, the founder and creative director of Hertunba, stated: “This collection reflects the joy we continue to express, regardless of the numerous challenges we face as individuals. It represents our belief in creating, staying joyful, and existing through the chaos. We have always been intentional about incorporating different elements of sustainability. The various layers tell the story of the brand’s journey. It was important to me that Nigerian beauty is highlighted and represented, as well as the diverse sizes of our customers.”
Known for its dedication to sustainable fashion and inclusivity, Hertunba is becoming one of the top fashion brands from Africa, setting itself apart with innovative pieces. Another standout feature of the new collection is its cultural significance. With locally made materials and styles, it serves as a masterclass in how an African fashion brand can distinguish itself while still aligning with modern fashion trends.
