American R&B artists Brandy and Monica have recently announced their co-headlining tour, The Boy Is Mine. The tour, which pays homage to their 1998 classic hit of the same name, will begin on October 16 and span 24 cities, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn, before concluding in Houston on December 7. Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, and recent American Idol winner Jamal Roberts have been confirmed as special guests on the tour.
In a statement to Variety, Brandy said, “This really is a full-circle moment. Monica and I coming together again isn’t just about the music – it’s about honouring where we came from and how far we’ve both come. ‘The Boy is Mine’ was a defining chapter in R&B, and to share the stage all these years later is bigger than a reunion – it’s a celebration of growth, sisterhood, and the love our fans have given us from day one.”
Monica added, “This tour is a celebration of our history, our impact, and the fans who have grown with us. Brandy and I have been on our own unique journeys, and coming back together in this way is a reminder of the power of respect, strength, and real music.”
When the record was released 27 years ago, it spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it one of the most commercially successful records of the late '90s. It also earned them a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. While Monica and Brandy have been on different journeys, they reunited for the record “It All Belongs to Me” and also appeared together in Ariana Grande’s music video for the reimagining of “The Boy Is Mine (Remix),” which scored them a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Presale for the tour begins today, with general tickets going on sale tomorrow.
