Earl Sweatshirt Brings Out Tyler, the Creator, Vince Staples, and Domo Genesis for Special Performances
A quasi-reunion of the original Odd Future crew took place backstage at Earl Sweatshirt's recent Los Angeles show commemorating the anniversary of his debut album, Doris. Although Odd Future never officially disbanded, it's been over a decade since their last group release.
Notably, Tyler, the Creator, who had previously downplayed the likelihood of an Odd Future reunion, joined Earl on stage to perform "Whoa."
Other guests included Domo Genesis, who performed "20 Wave Caps," and Vince Staples, who joined Earl for "Hive." Frank Ocean was absent from the event, although Earl did perform their song "Sunday" for the first time since 2015. Tyler, the Creator has expressed mixed sentiments about the quality of Odd Future's music, acknowledging its nostalgic value but suggesting that musically, it may not have aged as well as some fans believe. Nonetheless, he remains open to the possibility of a reunion if it results in compelling new music. Tyler also recently unveiled the lineup for the 2023 Camp Flog Gnaw festival, which includes Earl Sweatshirt and other Odd Future members.
