F1: The Movie premiered in a blaze of cinematic glory on June 16 in Times Square, a high-octane spectacle that promises to supercharge America's love affair with Formula 1. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and produced by Lewis Hamilton, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Apple Studios, the film balances blockbuster thrills with authentic racing immersion. We get to see Brad Pitt as former champion Sonny Hayes, drawn out of retirement to lead the rogue team APXGP.

Against a backdrop of real Grand Prix weekends and heart-pounding speeds, Hayes must mentor hotshot rookie Joshua “Noah” Pearce (Damson Idris),  a narrative of comeback, mentorship, and glory on wheels.

In an interview, Kosinski insists this is cinema for the big screen, “a reason to go to the theatre” with visceral visuals and narrative momentum. He credits Hamilton’s involvement for securing unparalleled access to real F1 environments like wind tunnels, race cars at 180 mph and forging realism that commands attention.

Damson Idris holds his own front as the [star of the show](https://www.vogue.com/slideshow/damson-f1-premiere-new-york-city?) playing Pearce, he trained alongside real drivers and hit peak authenticity. Arriving at the premiere in a limited-edition Mercedes‑AMG GT 63 APXGP, Idris wore a pinstripe Prada suit sans shirt, accessorized with his DIDRIS jewelry line. He described preparing for the role as “humbling and inspiring,” and tonight, that energy translated into undeniable star power.

Other amazing stars to grace the event were; Brad Pitt and his partner, Ines de Ramon, Lindsey Vonn, Javier Bardem. Lewis Hamilton, Mr Eazi and partner Temi Otedola, George Russell, Carlos Sainz  amongst many other amazing guests. The red carpet was a who's‑who of global culture

Worthy to note that Mr Eazi teased on his Instagram that he has an original highlife track titled “Attention” on the  F1: The Album, dropping July 27 alongside the film’s North American release in June 27. He called it “an honour to have my music aligned with such a global force like Formula 1,” signaling Africa’s pulse is speeding straight into Hollywood’s heart.

Critics are calling F1 “the turbo‑charged dad movie of the season.” It brings blockbuster swagger, punch‑drunk visuals, and Brad Pitt’s effortless charisma onto the track.

When F1 speeds into theatres June 27, audiences are getting more than a film, they’re thrust into a global cultural lap where speed meets soul, mentorship meets movement, and Black creativity roars in overdrive.
