Producers of "The Last Dance," the 10-episode docuseries about Michael Jordan's career and final season with the Chicago Bulls, are reportedly considering a similar documentary series about LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. According to John Ireland, the Lakers radio analyst for ESPN Los Angeles, a film crew has been following James and the Lakers this season, although it is unclear whether a docuseries will be released.
Andy Thompson, the man who shot "The Last Dance" and younger brother of Mychal Thompson, a former Lakers player, has spent a lot of time with the Lakers this year. If James were ever interested in making a documentary, Thompson would have the footage necessary to tell the story.
If the Lakers go on a run to the championship, Thompson could potentially create a story about the end of James' career, similar to the one he made for Jordan. Ireland also noted that a film crew had been following Kobe Bryant during the last two seasons of his career, so there is a lot of footage available for basketball fans. Whether or not the footage will ever be released remains to be seen.
