M.I Abaga is gearing up for a powerful return with a brand-new album titled “THE WOLF” (Whatever Occurs Look Forward). It’s his first album since 2022’s The Guy, and from the look of things, this one is going to sound and feel very different. Where The Guy was all about confidence and legacy, THE WOLF is shaping up to be more rooted, more intentional, and more African.
The rapper has described it as “African Super Hero Theme Music”, hinting at a project full of purpose and pride. Though there’s no release date yet, M.I has been previewing the album at event and slowly building buzz with creative rollouts online.
But the biggest twist came recently when he dropped a surprise skit featuring Bill Gates. Yes, the Bill Gates. In the clip, M.I is in the studio, working on a track, but something feels off. He pauses, then calls for “help” to save African music. What follows is a funny, smart skit where comedian Broda Shaggi rides Bill on a bike, Layi Wasabi interrupts the journey as the police officer, eventually, Bill Gates himself gets to the studio. M.I explains what’s missing from the song. Gates responds calmly: “It’s missing connectedness… we have to show we’re all in this together.”
The scene ends with a simple message about optimism, collaboration, and unity and whether you think it’s hilarious, confusing, or genius, it’s definitely working. The internet lit up, and fans are even more curious about what the album will bring.
While some people might roll their eyes at the idea of another rich white man “saving” Africa, the cameo feels more playful than preachy. It’s part of a larger creative campaign that shows M.I isn’t just dropping music he’s building a full experience.
This will be his 12th studio album, and if the teasers are anything to go by, THE WOLF won’t just be an album but a huge statement in music history.
