Tyler Perry is bringing back the drama, the laughter, and the messy truths of marriage and this time, Taraji P. Henson is stepping into the mix.

The Oscar-nominated actress has officially joined the cast of Why Did I Get Married Again?, the third film in Perry’s hit relationship franchise. She will star alongside returning fan favorites Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Sharon Leal, and Lamman Rucker, with Perry himself reprising his role. New names like Da’Vinchi, Laya DeLeon Hayes, and Jaden Michael round out the cast, ensuring this reunion feels both nostalgic and fresh.

Currently filming in Italy, the Netflix sequel picks up years after the last installment. Marcus (White) and Angela’s (Smith) daughter is preparing to get married, bringing the old crew back together for a wedding full of reflection, revelations, and the same unfiltered conversations about love and loyalty that made the original films resonate with audiences. For Henson, this marks her fifth collaboration with Perry after Acrimony, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, The Family That Preys, and most recently Straw, which was a Netflix hit earlier this year. Perry, who writes, directs, produces, and stars in the film, teased the project back in July with a cryptic post of the script’s cover page captioned, “I’m just gonna sit this right here!” He tagged the core cast including Janet Jackson, who hasn’t been confirmed for the sequel but remains a beloved part of the franchise’s legacy.
