Discover Ross' reinterpretation of the iconic 6-Inch Boot, 3-Eye Lug, and exclusive apparel pieces.
After launching the Future73 initiative with collaborations with Edison Chen and CLOT in March, Timberland has partnered with Samuel Ross and A-COLD-WALL* for its second Future73 project. Ross, who is known for ACW's Brutalist and abstract architecture-inspired designs and use of unique, high-end materials, worked with Timberland to create new versions of the 6-Inch Boot and the 3-Eye Lug, as well as a set of co-designed apparel.
The 6-Inch Boot has a sleek, minimalistic look with no ornamentation on its upper, except for a zip closure. It is made of premium natural leather and sits atop an icy sole unit. The 3-Eye Lug Shoe, which swaps out its standard leather construction for ballistic nylon, is dressed in a navy blue/black mixture. Both shoes are designed to balance well-worn and brand-new aesthetics. The upper of the 6-Inch Boot is made to develop a beautiful patina with wear, while the sole will continue to appear crisp. The 3-Eye Lug Shoe has added durability provided by a GORE-TEX liner.
The collection's apparel features modernized, hand-dyed takes on pieces from the Timberland archive like parkas, vests, and shorts in various natural tones. "It's easy to have a flourish of shape or color or crazy detail," Ross said of the footwear and apparel. "What's difficult is to move something forward without distorting it, but also use it to present newness."
The Samuel Ross x Timberland collection will be released in two parts. The first drop is scheduled for May 12 on the A-COLD-WALL* webstore and May 16 on the Timberland webstore. The second drop will hit shelves in August. Prices range from $220-$900 USD.
