Kendrick Lamar tops the list with ten nominations.
The BET Awards recently announced its nominations list for the 2025 edition, with American rapper Kendrick Lamar topping the list with ten nominations, including Album of the Year, Video of the Year, and three Viewer’s Choice Award nominations for “Not Like Us,” “Luther” (featuring SZA), and “Like That” (with Future and Metro Boomin). Predictions have already started pouring in, with many claiming that Lamar will win in most of the categories—just like he did at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Other artists who clinched multiple nominations include Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla, with six nominations each, while Metro Boomin received five. SZA and The Weeknd followed closely with four nods each.
This year, the Album of the Year category appears to be the fiercest yet, with Doechii, GloRilla, Drake, Beyonce, Metro Boomin, and Lamar all contending for the award. Other nominated artists and Black creatives include Latto, Leon Thomas, Summer Walker, Jamie Foxx, Aldis Hodge, Colman Domingo, Coco Jones, Zendaya, and others.
African artists also made the nominations list, with Ayra Starr receiving three nominations: Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best International Act, where Black Sherif, Rema, Tyla, and Uncle Waffles were also nominated. Tems follows closely with two nominations in the BET Her category for her songs “Burning” and “Hold On.” Other African artists such as Abigail Chams, Dlala Thukzin, Maglera Doe Boy, Odeal, Shallipopi, and TxC were all nominated in the Best New International Act category, while Burna Boy earned a nod in the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category.
This year’s BET award ceremony will be hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, and it will air live on BET from the Peacock Theatre in L.A. on June 9. Check out the full list of the nominations here.
